Charlene Liu (she/her)

Co-Founder & Executive Director, DEIB Consultant & Speaker

Charlene Liu was born in Malaysia and has lived in the US, Singapore, China, and the Netherlands. She is an engineer, community leader, social entrepreneur, and diversity, equity & Inclusion (DEI) advocate. Charlene graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and received a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University. She has 20+ years of working experience in the Semiconductor & Electronics and Solar industries, ranging from design, engineering, manufacturing, project management to sales and marketing. She has experience with events, corporate innovation, and management consulting at PwC and Deloitte. She was the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) APAC and Portfolio at Arcadis. Charlene has almost 20 years of community leadership, commercial event management, and DEI advocacy experience. In 2009, she co-founded ShanghaiPRIDE, an annual festival run by volunteers that promotes LGBT+ inclusion, in 2014 Q-Events, an event management company, in 2016 Ladies Who Tech, a social impact community for women in STEM, and in 2019, D&I Consulting DNIC, a consultancy which helps corporations build a more inclusive culture. In 2014, she and team ShanghaiPRIDE were awarded Shanghai Hero by Time Out Shanghai, and in 2018, Best Event Organizer in East China by Huodongxing. Charlene is on a full-time journey to make the world more inclusive.

Cathrine Hansen (she/her)

Co-Founder DNIC EU, DEIB Consultant & Speaker

Originally from Denmark, Cathrine holds a Bachelor's in International Studies and completed an internship in International HR at a Chinese translation company in Beijing in 2015. She then moved to Australia to earn her Master’s in Cross-Cultural Communication from the University of Sydney, where her research on “Turn-taking practices in intercultural communication” won an award and led to a presentation at the Free Linguistics Conference in Indonesia. After her Master’s, she worked as a trainee at a consultancy focused on cross-cultural business management. Cathrine began her career in International HR Management in Shanghai, working for two Chinese companies on international staff and HR operations. As an HR Business Partner at a Chinese tech unicorn, she supported growth in Europe, Australia, and the USA from the China headquarters. Meanwhile, she volunteered as an Event Manager for ShanghaiPRIDE and advocated for DEI & LGBTQIA+ rights where she built a passion for DEI and allyship. After almost 10 years in the APAC region, Cathrine returned to Europe in 2022 and continued as an HR Business Partner at a fintech company in Amsterdam, where she focused on diversity and inclusion, fostering inclusive work environments, and advising leaders on talent management and wellbeing. She earned certifications in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging from AIHR and Intercultural Communication for Experts from the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.

Lilian She (she/her)

Co-Founder DNIC US, DEIB Consultant & Facilitator

Lilian Shen is the co-founder & managing partner of Diversity & Inclusion Consulting DNIC. Born in the UK, Lilian has also lived and worked in China, US, and Singapore. She is a Chinese activist for women’s, LGBTQ and trans rights in China and Asia. She co-founded Ladies Who Tech (2015), Queer Talks (2015), Trans Talks (2017), and a Crisis Intervention Support Group (2019). She has hosted over 200 panels, workshops, and events partnered with corporations, higher education, consulates, and community organizations. With a B.B.A in Finance and B.A. in Environmental Science, Lilian’s career transitioned from M&A Investment Banking to corporate training and facilitation, helping dozens of teams communicate and collaborate better using applied improvisation, corporate simulations, and other experiential tools. She brings a decade of corporate experience into her work in DEIB, bridging the needs of corporations, people, and communities for a common goal. Lilian’s passion in DEIB is born out of her dedication to community building and on-the-ground advocacy. Lilian is joining an esteemed team of fellow advocates and professionals at DNIC, hoping to make the world a better place one day at a time. Lilian is also an Actor and Voice Actor; she appeared in One APIA’s political campaign to raise awareness on reproductive rights amongst Asian American voters.

Raymond Phang (he/him)

DEIB Consultant & Speaker

Born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, Raymond was awarded the Confucius Institute Scholarship and pursued Linguistics in Shanghai, China. He is a growing professional in marketing technology and digital commerce for award-winning global digital experience and solutions companies. He holds a BA in Chinese Language (TCSL) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China and recently received his MBA from Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management. As the Co-founder of ShanghaiPRIDE, Raymond manages various operations and events within the festival. He established the volunteer management team and leads the ShanghaiPRIDE Film Festival, Workplace DEI and Red Ribbon Gala. He also manages the community organizations, corporate and foreign consulates partnerships, and is cultural liaison with various government bureaus. Together with his professional background, he offers insights on how DEI can be incorporated in the fast-evolving consumer markets. Raymond is a sought-after speaker when it comes to DEI and LGBTQ inclusion in China and Asia. He has a vast understanding of the DEI landscape in China and Asia and often speaks at corporate DEI conferences, including companies in technology, supply chain, pharmaceutical, and creative media. He also speaks at foreign consulates, TEDx series, and top educational institutions. Recently, he spoke at the Copenhagen World Pride 2021, represented ShanghaiPRIDE at the ILGA World Conference 2022 in the USA, and was selected to participate in the first International LGBTQI+ Activism Summit at Harvard Kennedy School.
